Dance as a form of Meditation

There are many reasons why people dance. I would like to dive deeper into the idea of dancing as a form of inward meditation and less on outward appearance. This idea intrigues me because it is the inverse side of dance where instead of focusing on competition and pushing your body for a certain skill or atheistic it takes your focus inward on the listening to the body and accepting it for where it is at and through mindful and persistent mediation and practice it will eventually begin to look and feel the ways that not only feel healthy, but also look acceptable in terms of technique to the dance community.

Creative Processes

There are many types of processes that people find to work best for thier personalities, situations, etc. I want to begin to do more research into these different methods so I can find what I would be good at applying and what my style of process is. As a color guard coach, I already have a well defined process I use to teach my students in that setting, but now that I am shifting my gears toward the dance community, I would like to know more about processes used in this community.

Dance in Low Income Communities

There is a need for the arts in the world. I find myself drawn to taking the abilities, knowledge, and opportunity I have been given and giving back to young people who are less fortunate. I want to do more research into the affects of implementing art programs in low income neighboorhoods. What steps and measures does one have to take to begin the implementation process of a venture of this nature.  How students in programs like these have been changed or affected by them, if at all.
